Why do you sing without instruments?

Although instruments used for worship is used in the Old Testament, we are under New Testament authority. There is no scripture found that authorizes instrumental music in the worship service today, but there are many giving instruction for singing.

1 Corinthians 14:15; James 5:13; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16; Matthew 26:26-30; Acts 16:25; Hebrews 2:12

The Bible is our sole authority; however, history shows that worship has not used instruments for many years and many congregations and denominations stood against the use of musical instruments.

There is a difference between worship and listening or playing music outside of the church.

No, the Bible does not expressly say NOT to use instruments, but there are many issues the Bible never specifically denounces. The only "instrument" ever referenced in the Bible is our heart. We must realize that the worship service is not about our satisfaction, but God's satisfaction with our worship of Him. Our focus should solely be on Him, no instruments to distract us from that.

Click the "Manage Questions" button
Click on the question you would like to attach a video to
When editing your answer, click on the video icon and then paste the YouTube or Vimeo video URL
That's it! A thumbnail of your video will appear in answer text box

The FAQ title can be adjusted in the settings tab of the App Settings. You can also remove the title by unchecking its checkbox in the settings tab.
